"yep. you're - okay." she nodded and grabbed her cigarettes before she walked away. she walked through the backdoor and towards her father's shed at the back of the large garden. she shut the door and lit one of the cigarettes up. they could finish setting up. she was not dealing with this. they had invited her ex and his family. it didn't surprise her that the family was coming, but that her ex was going to be there, too. wasn't he in the states? she took a deep breath and leaned back against the shelves.
it felt like it was hours later when she peeked out of the door and saw everyone gathering around. then her blue eyes fell on him and she inhaled sharply. she quickly snapped the door shut again and she sank her teeth into her lower lip. her forehead rested against the door and she took a few deep breaths before she grabbed her cigarettes and lit another one up. she walked out of the shed and closed the door behind her, but she sidestepped everyone and hid behind people to avoid running into her ex. she ducked inside and she caught sight of his eyes landing directly on her. "fuck." she closed her eyes and walked further into the home before grabbing a drink and settling on the couch. every time she looked at him, it was like a punch to the gut. the air left her lungs and she felt so dizzy.
